CW Sertoma meets
Canal Winchester Sertoma Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Donatos Pizza, 6310 Prentiss School Drive, Canal Winchester. Sertoma’s main sponsorship focus is speech and hearing. Sertoma exists for the noble purpose of "Service to Mankind" by communication of thoughts, ideas and concepts to accelerate human progress in health, education, freedom and democracy. CW’s Farmer’s Market
Main Street Canal Winchester will sponsor a Farmer’s Market each Saturday through Oct. 18 in historic downtown Canal Winchester from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors will offer fresh produce, flowers, hand made crafts, candy, cookies, and more. Music & Art in the Park
Canal Winchester’s "Music and Art in the Park" free concert series will be held the third Friday of every month, May through August, from 6-9 p.m. at Stradley Park, just north of the village municipal building at 36 S. High St. Additional activities will include face painting by the Canal Winchester Art Guild, a roaming magician, a caricature artist, and art displays by the Canal Winchester Art Guild.
This year’s schedule includes:
•"Blast From the Past," June 20, featuring Swing’s The Thing, a 16-piece big band ensemble from 7-9 p.m. and a classic car show from 6-9 p.m. Anyone who is interested in displaying their car at the classic car cruise-in should contact Carrie Hoover at choover@canalwinchesterohio.gov or (614) 834-9727.
•"A Touch of Country," July 18 with the Christy Angeletti Band from 6-9 p.m. as well as line dance instruction from 6-7 p.m. As part of this theme, area residents and businesses will have the opportunity to set up tables with pre-approved products to sell, such as produce, or items to display, such as arts and crafts.
•"Island Rhythms on the Canal" will be held Aug. 15. Entertainment and activities for this event to be announced.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating at this family-friendly event. Picnics are also welcome; however, alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Canal Winchester’s community center, located at 22 S. Trine Street, will be used as a backup location in the case of inclement weather for all concerts except the June 20 "Blast From the Past" event.
Charity golf scramble
The Canal Winchester Sertoma will hold its annual charity golf scramble on June 21at Homestead Springs Golf course. Registration begins at 11 a.m.. Shotgun start. Tee off at noon. Entry fee is $60 per player ($240 per team). Entries need to be received by June 14. Checks should be made payable to Canal Winchester Sertoma Club, 7306 Crossett Ct., Canal Winchester, OH 43110. CW Relay for Life
The Canal Winchester Relay for Life will be held June 6-7 at Canal Winchester High School. Opening ceremonies start at 6 p.m. June 6 and closing ceremonies will be at noon on June 7.
Relay For life is the American Cancer Society signature fundraising event. This is Canal Winchester’s third Relay for Life. The event raised $33,000 last year and this year’s goal is $35,000.
Teams are formed of 10-15 people and they commit to have someone walking on the track during the whole event. The Survivor lap starts the event off followed by the introduction of teams. Survivor dinner held at 6:30 p.m. (To register for the survivor dinner, call the Ohio American Cancer Society at 1-888-227-6446, ext. 2.)
The luminaria ceremony starts at 10 p.m. Luminaria are those glowing bags that to the naked eye appear to be nothing more than a paper sack filled with sand and candles. But upon closer examination, these sacks are like people, each with a name and a story to tell. Luminaria are available for a $10 contribution to the American Cancer Society and can be bought on line at www.relayforlife.org/canalwinchesteroh or at the event.
There will be concessions available and a pizza party at midnight. There are a lot of games and activities for everyone to do all night long.
Entertainment includes:
•Relay Idol Contest with a $100 prize to the winner (call Beth McCoy to register – 833-3227) on June 6 at 6:30 p.m. Register by May 31.
•Band from TS Tech.
•CWHS Steel Drum Band will play at 10 a.m. June 7.

CWHS graduation
Canal Winchester High School’s 2008 commencement ceremony will be held June 1, at 2 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. Ticket is required. Valedictorians will speak.
Chicken BBQ
Faith United Methodist Church, 15 W. Columbus St., Canal Winchester, will host its 51st annual "Chicken BBQ" on June 14 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Proceeds support Faith’s Mission Team in outreach ministries in the Canal Winchester school district. Wagnalls Family Theatre

Stone City 5K
The fifth annual Stone City 5K will take place June 21 at Wagnalls Memorial, 150 E. Columbus St., Lithopolis. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Early registration fee is $20/adult; $15/seniors and children; $50/family; $15 per person for registered groups of 10 or more. Late/onsite registration (June 21) fees are increased.
Wagnalls art exhibit
The art students of Teresa Satola will have their art on exhibit in the gallery of The Wagnalls Memorial Foundation, 150 E. Colulmbus St., Lithopolis, through May. The students of different ages will display works done in pencil, water color, and oil. For information on the exhibit or art classes, call (614) 837-4765 ext.127. The gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The exhibit also will be open Memorial Day during the Firemen’s Fish Fry in Lithopolis.
CW volleyball
Canal Winchester High School will host a girls’ volleyball camp open to all girls, from any area school the week of June 23. Sessions will be held for different age groups. "Put Fun Back in Funeral"

Open Doors
Congressman Dave Hobson’s (R-Ohio-7) office will hold an "Open Doors" meeting with the public on May 27 at Canal Winchester Town Hall, 10 N.
