Arbor Day in Groveport

Groveport Mayor Lance Westcamp (left) and Groveport City Councilman Scott Lockett, helped plant a Crimson King maple tree in Groveport Cemetery on April 30 as part of the city’s Arbor Day celebration. Westcamp also read a proclamation regarding the importance of trees to a community. This is the city of Groveport’s 28th straight year of being named a Tree City USA. Communities achieve Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and celebrating Arbor Day.
