Groveport Madison Schools Superintendent Jamie Grube announced Jeff Altman will serve as the new principal at Groveport Madison High School beginning this summer, pending board of education approval.
“I have been impressed with Jeff’s unwavering commitment to students’ academic needs, social-emotional development, and their overall health and well-being,” said Grube. “He is equally committed to the GMHS staff. He promotes collaboration and personal accountability and helps staff members seek creative solutions to complex situations. Jeff’s focus, determination, and welcoming nature blend perfectly to create the right environment for high school students to grow and thrive.”
Altman holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Capital University and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Muskingum University. He’s served as assistant principal at GMHS since August of 2021 and was a teacher at GMHS for 12 years.
“I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity,” said Altman. “I have been a lifelong Cruiser and graduated from GMHS in 2003. I have learned much in my 14 years of professionally serving this community. I look forward to continuing to work with this excellent staff. Building relationships and rapport with our students, families, and stakeholders will be at the forefront of my leadership. Creating a culture at GMHS that staff and students can be proud of is vital to our success. I look forward to embracing this role and will be passionate about developing, fostering, and implementing positive changes in our school. I look forward to leading the staff and will give you all my very best daily.”
Altman will succeed Duane Bland, who has served as interim principal at GMHS since August 2022.
