Eliza Streit, a senior at Jonathan Alder High School, signed her letter of intent to compete in cross country and track and field at Ohio University. Ohio University is a member of NCAA Div. I and competes in the Mid-American Conference.
“I really clicked with the team on my visit there,” Streit said. “They reminded me a lot of the team atmosphere at Jonathan Alder, and the new coach and training has produced great results for their program in such a short amount of time.”
Streit said she didn’t seriously consider running at the college level until halfway through her freshman year at Jonathan Alder.
“Until then, I didn’t think I could be good enough to be competitive. I also didn’t fully know how exhilarating running is until then,” she said. “Thanks to Coach (Justin) Creps for teaching me the ‘work hard/have fun’ process that got me where I am today.”
Streit plans to study dietetics and nutrition. She is the daughter of Joshua and Lindsay Streit.
