Alder boys’ hoops team takes the win over London

Jonathan Alder hosted London on Jan. 11 before a large crowd on “Mental Health Awareness Rocks” night. The Pioneers came away with a 58-40 victory. Jonathan Alder used a 15-2 scoring advantage in the second quarter to take a 27-10 halftime score into the lockerroom.

Jainaz Cameron works against the defense of Daniel Heinig in the paint. Cameron scored 12 points for London and Heinig added two points for Jonathan Alder.
Jonathan Alder’s student cheering section dressed in green to support the “Mental Health Awareness Rocks!” campaign, sponsored by the Clark, Greene & Madison Counties chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness and Madison County Prevention. Another Mental Health Awareness Rocks! night is planned for Jan. 22 at West Jefferson’s home boys’ basketball game against Madison-Plains (freshman at 4:30 p.m., junior varsity at 6, varsity at 7:30). Resource tables, raffles and giveaways are planned. Proceeds from the raffles will benefit student-led prevention teams at all four county schools. Everyone is encouraged to wear green. Other sponsors include American Legion Post 417, Target and Walmart.
