The following are among the pets up for adoption at the Humane Society of Madison County.
Thyone of the Jupiter puppies is now 8 weeks old and up for adoption. He came in after his very sweet mother, Jupiter, and siblings were found out and about by a good Samaritan. Thyone was born on Dec. 25, 2022, and will be a large breed when he grows up. Shelter staff expect him and his siblings to be hound mixes of some sort, but they aren’t sure. If his adopter or the adopters of his siblings ever do genetic testing, the staff would love to know the results.
Thyone is incredibly sweet, just like his mama, and will look to you for guidance as he learns the world around him.
Thyone really perked up when he saw the shelter office kitty, so the staff would love for him to go to a home with other friendly, four-legged friends who he can follow around and learn from. He is still very tiny and will need to come back for vetting and his neuter surgery.
This boy would absolutely love to get out of the shelter and into your warm lap or bed and cuddle up with you. Meet-and-greets with puppies are by appointment only and with approved applications.
Adoption fees for dogs vary: shelter dogs are $180, prison dogs are $250, puppies are $300, and popular pure-breeds are $400. The price includes: a Home Again microchip, set of shots, deworming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a county license at an additional cost of $17; this fee is cash only. Adoption fees can be paid by cash or credit card.
Roxie came to the shelter along with her brother and sister in need of their forever homes. Roxie is a super sweet young girl who loves people and other kitties. She is a complete lovebug and loves to be picked up and cuddled. She also loves playing with her brother, Rocky, and sister, Blippi. She would do wonderfully in a home with other kitties, maybe even one of her siblings.
She was born on May 28, 2022, so she is still a kitten. Before Roxie came to the shelter, she was around children and loved them. She hasn’t been around dogs since being at the shelter, but with slow and proper introductions, she would do just fine.
The adoption fee is $100 for kittens up to 6 months old and $80 for cats 7 months and older. It includes: a FeLV/FIV test (if old enough), spay or neuter, set of shots, deworming, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). Fees can be paid by cash or credit card.
