The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Abby Homan as London High School’s October Student of the Month.
Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.
Homan has a 4.41 grade point average and is ranked seventh in her class. Her favorite class is any of her math classes. She has been on the Merit Honor Roll the past three years and received the Honda Scholarship Award which goes to the top math student determined by the math department for the graduating class.
She is a four-year member of the varsity soccer team, earning third-team all- district and honorable mention CBC. She has played basketball for four years, serving as a captain for junior varsity. She received the Sportsmanship & Integrity Award. Abby also is a member of the school’s COVID-19 Response Team.
When asked to name a school staff person who inspires her, Homan named school counselor Betsy Dennis.
“Mrs. Dennis has overcome so many things, like cancer, and she is a terrific woman who is so helpful,” Homan said. “She has helped me since I was a freshman, and she didn’t let any setbacks stop her!”
About Homan, Dennis said, “It has been such a privilege to work with Abby over these last four years. She is bright, determined and passionate about learning. She is so personable and seems to always have a smile on her face. I have watched her grow as a student and am excited for her as she begins her journey towards a career in medicine. I have no doubt that she will achieve success.”
After graduation, Homan plans to attend college and major in pre-medicine with a goal of becoming a pediatrician. She is the daughter of Marvin and Jodele Homan of London.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
