| Historical interpreter Ann Culek of Groveport provides Columbus resident Katie Schweninger, 8, with a taste of goods canned at Metro Parks’ Slate Run Living Historical Farm on Dec. 29. The farm staff educated guests regarding how fruits, vegetables and meats were preserved in the late 19th century in the days before artificial refrigeration. In addition to displaying the canned goods, hams were cured and smoked. |
