"4-H is the Music in Me" was the theme of the Groveport Buttoneers display booth at the Franklin County Fair, held July 12-19. Twenty-three members of the group participated in the fair this year. Awards are as follows:
•The club won first place in the Hollywood look alike scarecrow competition with a replica of Mr. T. Logan Clark won first place in the live scarecrow division.
•State Fair winners: Sam Johnson in bottle rockets and aerospace; Jake Zwayer in welding; Nick Zwayer in woodworking. They will represent Franklin County at the State Fair.
•Beef Show winners: Jake Zwayer for senior beef showmanship and master showman; Kelsey Brobst for dairy beef feeder grand champion and dairy veal reserve champion; Hope Brobst for champion dairy veal feeder; Lane Brobst for junior beef showmanship. Other beef winners were Melissa Wilhelm, Jake Zwayer, Hope Brobst, Lane Brobst, Kelsey Brobst, Christy Wildermuth, and Jodi Wildermuth.
•Swine Show winners: Christy Wildermuth for grand champion market swine. Other swine awards went to Jake Zwayer, Grant Zwayer, Lane Brobst, Hope Brobst, Kelsey Brobst, Paden Brobst, Jodi Cook, Roni Cook, Christy Wildermuth, Jodi Wildermuth, and Nick Zwayer.
•Rabbit Show winners: Paden Brobst for best of breed and best of breed overall; Logan Clark for reserve champion rabbit; other rabbit awards went to Lane Brobst, Paden Brobst, Madison Frasure, and Mariah Clark.
•Sheep Show winners: Jodi Wildermuth for sheep showmanship, master showman. She also won the showman of showman contest. Christy Wildermuth won grand champion market lamb. Other sheep awards went to Grant Zwayer, Lane Brobst, Paden Brobst, Christy Wildermuth, and Jodi Wildermuth.
•Duck Show winners: Mariah Clark.
•Goat Show winners: David Wilhelm and Madison Frasure.
•Reptile Show winner: Madison Frasure for best of show.
•Small Animal Show winner: Michaela Erickson won honorable mention for her hamster.
•Nutrition winners: Mary Grace Johnson for mini-meal magic and Isabelle Johnson for food and fitness.
•Other project winners: Madeline Garrett for sewing; Teddy Johnson for woodworking II; Juan Broadnax for "Growing on my Own"; Roni Cook and David Wilhelm for photography. Grant Zwayer won State Fair alternate for welding. Christy Wildermuth won best of show for the arrangement challenge flower show.
•J.D. Equipment awards: Hope Brobst, Lane Brobst, Kelsey Brobst, Paden Brobst, Jodi Cook, Christy Wildermuth, Jodi Wildermuth, Melissa Wilhelm, Grant Zwayer, Jake Zwayer, and Nick Zwayer.
•Skill-a-Thon awards: Hope Brobst, Lane Brobst, Kelsey Brobst, Paden Brobst, Melissa Wilhelm, David Wilhelm, Mariah Clark, Madison Frasure, Jake Zwayer, Grant Zwayer, Christy Wildermuth, Jodi Wildermuth.
•Outstanding Market exhibitors: Lane Brobst, Kelsey Brobst, Paden Brobst, David Wilhelm, Jodi Wildermuth.
•Creative Baking Contest: Isabelle Johnson for muffins; Roni Cook for cake; Grant Zwayer for yeast breads; Christy Wildermuth for bundt cake; Jodi Wildermuth for cookies in a jar. Bake sale winners were Mary Grace Johnson, Nick Zwayer, Jodi Cook, Ross Sturgeon, and Grant Zwayer.
•Service projects for the club included decorating the outside fo the Ganyard Building with flower planting and helping with the Buyers Dinner for the livestock auction.
