A Night in Green was a special evening for St. Pius X School in Reynoldsburg.

The third annual event, sponsored by the St. Pius X Home & School Association  and held on March 5 at the school located at 1061 Waggoner Road, was a fund raiser for the school’s students and featured food, spirits, live and silent auctions, and music.

About 226 elegantly dressed registered guests mingled in the school’s gym during the event, which was festively decorated in hues of green.

Kim Donnelly, a volunteer for St. Pius X Home & School Association and a parent to two St. Pius X students, came up with the idea for A Night in Green. Donnelly said the event has proven to be a successful fund raiser for the school.

“In our inaugural year, 2014, we raised over $40,000,” said Donnelly, who serves as event chair for A Night in Green. “In 2015 we raised over $55,000 and in 2016 we expect to raise over $60,000.”

Donnelly said the money raised in 2014 was used to invest in technology, such as iPads and iPad carts and wireless networking throughout the building. In 2015 the money raised was used to construct and invest in a new science lab and additional technology for the classrooms. In 2016 the money raised will be used to expand the school’s fine arts, music, library media center and the continued implementation of technology in education.

“This event is important for many reasons,” said Donnelly. “We have many families from all over, including Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, Canal Winchester, Groveport, Pataskala, Blacklick, and Columbus. This is an opportunity to bring all these family and friends together. The event also helps us bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost of providing the best opportunities for our students.”

St. Pius X School has an enrollment of approximately 550 students in grades K-8.
