On Aug. 25, at 6:30 p.m., Groveport Madison Schools will dedicate the new Le’Veon Bell Athletic Field at Cruiser Stadium at Groveport Madison High School. The synthetic turf field was made possible by the donation of $750,000 from Le’Veon Bell, a 2010 Groveport Madison High School graduate and a current running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Crews from The Motz Group have worked since early July readying the field. More than 100 truckloads of soil were removed to prepare the site for the gravel and sand base. Installation of the artificial turf will take place immediately thereafter. In addition to the new field, the school district secured donors who are paying to replace the Cruiser Stadium scoreboard. The new, 48×14-foot scoreboard is fully digital, allowing videos and other graphics to be displayed for the crowd. The scoreboard can be used for a variety of sporting and other events. Following new guidelines from the Ohio Capital Conference, all varsity football games will begin at 7 p.m., instead of 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices have increased by $1, making tickets $7 for adults and $5 for students.
I’m so happy for GMHS. Both of my Sons played football there. Thanks So much Le’Veonn Bell.
