Dozens of humans and their canine companions descended upon Breck Community Park on March 29 to enjoy a bit of fun in the sun at the four dog play areas of the recreational attraction located in Grove City. Throughout the warm and pleasant day, canines of all breeds and sizes took to the grounds to burn off excessive energy, make new friends, and enjoy the rare temperate conditions of the early spring. Among the canines who were successful in getting their humans to take them to the popular dog park was Macaroni, a 5-year-old German Shepherd. Although he is an otherwise social animal, he preferred to spend the afternoon playing his favorite game of throw and fetch with his human.
Two-year-old cocker spaniel Daisy loves her home in Grove City, but her human Mike Butler admits she has trouble with the small size of her backyard. To help this little bundle of energy burn off the zoomies, he often takes her to the community park to give her the chance to stretch her legs and run around to her heart’s content. “She never wants to leave,” he said.
Oliver, a 15-month-old chocolate Labrador from Grove City, runs to the fence to investigate whether a potential new friend has come into the enclosure.
Canines were not the only ones who were encouraged to burn off excessive energy at the dog play area.
