It was a day for the dogs at Prairie Oaks Metro Park. On Aug. 27, several hundred canines from across the state descended upon the park’s Darby Bend Lakes area to participate in the annual animal fiesta known as Wag!Fest. For six hours, pooches of all ages and breeds were able to play in the water, meet new friends, test their agility at an obstacle course, and generally have a dog-gone good time. Shown here definitely having a dog-gone good time is Atreyu, a 1-year-old Siberian Husky from Grove City. His human companions, David and Melissa Dean, were also making their first visit to the celebratory event. They had a good time too, but probably not as much as their pet did while cooling off in the Ice Castle.
Speak! for the Unspoken volunteer Solana Cumpian poses with her Dalmatian Ren. Both Cumpian and Ren were serving as ambassadors for the Grove City-based pet rescue organization that specializes in animals with special needs.
