West High School hosted its inaugural Back-to-School Bash on Aug. 19. For two hours, westside students of all grade levels were able to enjoy the final days of their break from the classroom by playing games, learning about educational opportunities from community organizations, and shopping for a plethora of donated reading materials and other supplies. Jenetta Bell, a senior assistant principal at West High School, was one of the co-organizers of the Back-to-School Bash. She said the intention of the event was not only for kids to have an afternoon of fun before school starts, but also for them and their parents and guardians to be able to gather supplies and other resources to make the upcoming year easier. She promised that the second annual Back-to-School Bash would be “bigger and better.” Pictured here showing his delight at some of the free fare at this year’s bash is West High School senior Mackuza Chavez.
