The middle school version of “The Addams Family” musical is hot off the press, and London Middle School is taking it out for a spin.

“There’s a new company getting into the middle school musical thing, and this is brand new from them,” said Director Tim Tanner. “We have a lot of students this year who make a good fit for the characters.”

Performances of “The Addams Family: Young @ Part” are set for 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 in the Joyce Hildebrand Auditorium at London High School, 336 Elm St. Admission is $5.

“We usually do our shows right before Thanksgiving, but we moved the dates this year due to scheduling conflicts with other activities at the school,” Tanner said. “It’s just happenstance we’re putting on a spooky show right at the exact perfect time.”

The family at the center of the plot is atypical, to put it mildly. The Addams clan is fond of all things dark, gruesome and strange which makes for an interesting evening when the daughter invites her new boyfriend and his parents over for dinner.

“The story plays on how oddly the Addams family looks at life but how they still have a tremendous love for one another as a family,” Tanner said.

Josh Lickliter and Evie Gillilan play the parents, Gomez and Morticia Addams. Gabi Wolverton holds the role of Wednesday, the lovestruck daughter. Lily Beyer appears as Uncle Fester, while Anthony Holfinger plays Wednesday’s older brother, Pugsley.

A total of 32 students make up the cast, while six students make up the stage crew.
