4H’ers excel at Franklin County Fair

The following Groveport Buttoneers 4-H Club Members received at least a blue ribbon on their projects at the Franklin County Fair and other awards as noted:

Grace Ahrens – Market Hog – 1st place Showmanship in intermediate and master classes; Grand Champion Lightweight hog and Overall Champion hog;  Market Goat – 4th place; 1st place Showmanship in junior class;

Matthew Ahrens – Market Hog – 1st place Showmanship in beginner class; Reserve Lightweight, Grand Champion hog, Middleweight hog; Market Goat – 4th place; 2nd Showmanship in beginner class;

Kate Bliven – One on One – Superior and State Fair Selection; Self Determined Senior – Outstanding and Honorable Mention;

Ben Dennis – My Favorite Things – Superior and State Fair Alternate;

Jacob Garrett – You’re the Chef – Outstanding and State Fair selection; Robotics 1 – Outstanding and State Fair Alternate; One on One – Outstanding and Honorable Mention; Creative Baking – 4th place in the Gluten Free Cookie category;

Madeline Garrett – Outer Layers – Outstanding and State Fair Alternate; One on One – Outstanding, Honorable Mention and State Fair Alternate; Self Determined Senior – Outstanding;

Samantha Garrett – Loungewear – Outstanding; Let’s Bake Quick Breads; Creative Baking – 2nd place in Bundt Cake category;

Matthew Gavorcik – Let’s Start Cooking – Outstanding and Honorable Mention;

Abby Harshman – Global Gourmet –  Honorable Mention;

Max Harshman – Snack Attack – Superior and Honorable Mention;

Brenna Kilbarger – Yeast Bread – Outstanding and State Fair Alternate; Creative Baking Cookie Decorating contest – 5th place in Senior Division; Photography Contest – Self Portrait or Selfie category 1st place in Senior category and Best in Show;

John Lewis – Your First Home Away from Home – Outstanding and Honorable Mention; One on One – Outstanding and Honorable Mention; Family Treasure Hunt; Creative Baking 5th place in the Fudge category;

Haylee Ottman – Scrapbooking Senior – Superior and State Fair Alternate;

Camryn Schooley – Photography 2 – Superior and State Fair selection; 2nd place intermediate/senior division of Interlocking Block contest; Photography Contest – Sunrise/Sunset category 2nd place;

Chancelyr Schooley – Your First Home Away from Home – Superior and State Fair selection;
Lauren Wilson – Market Hog – 2nd place Showmanship in Beginner class; Outstanding and Superior in Skills;

Cloverbuds:  Nancy Gavorcik, Kinsey Hovance; Ben Kelley; Madison Kelley; Cole Kisner; Lizzie Masino; Jadyn Schooley; Aubrey Wilson;

Club Advisors: Gaynell Garrett, Jon Hay, Lisa Frasure, Aileen Clark, Jenny Dennis, Kathy Kisner,  Susan Brobst, Melanie Harshman, Josh Schooley and Todd Hill.

Groveport Buttoneers 4H Club meets year round and accepts new members in October. Traditional 4H’ers (taking an individual project) must be 8 years old and in the third grade as of Jan. 1, 2017.  Cloverbuds are members that are age 5 and in kindergarten through second grade and they work on group projects during the club meetings.  For information email gaynell@wideopenwest.com before Jan. 15.
