4-Hers excel at Franklin County Fair

The following Groveport Buttoneers 4-H Club members received at least a blue ribbon on their projects and other awards at this year’s Franklin County Fair:

Grace Ahrens –  grand champion market goat; junior hog showmanship;  reserve lightweight hog and reserve heavyweight hog; Farm Bureau poster winner beginner hogs; JD Livestock Award;

Lane Brobst – 2nd place senior showmanship cattle;  competed with hogs and dairy beef feeder; Farm Bureau poster winner senior dairy beef feeder; JD Livestock Award;

Kate Bliven – creative costume state fair selection; You Can Quilt state fair selection;

Ben Dennis – basic archery state fair alternate;

Justus Dorsey – creative writing – superior;

Jacob Garrett – global gourmet –  honorable mention; Warm It Up Engines  state fair selection;

Madeline Garrett – yeast bread – outstanding;  Clothing for High School state fair selection; nominee to Ohio 4H Fashion Revue;

Samantha Garrett – Tops for Tweens; Fast Break for Breakfast state fair alternate;

Joseph Green – basic archery –  outstanding;

Michayla Gussler – photography state fair selection;  reptiles state fair selection;  Set the Stage – outstanding and best of show;

Ethan Gussler – beekeeping state fair selection; Woodworking Making the Cut state fair selection;

Abby Harshman – basic archery – honorable mention;

Hazel Jarrett – sewing – outstanding and honorable mention;  2nd place rabbit fun show; pet rabbit – superior;

Isaac Jarrett  – creative baking 1st place raspberry cream cheese coffee cake; pet rabbit;

Mattie Jarrett – creative baking 2nd place cherry pineapple cobbler; pet rabbit;

Brenna Kilbarger – yeast bread – outstanding; creative baking 1st place gluten free peanut butter cookies;

Connor Kilbarger – Sewing Outer Layer state fair selection; Fashion Revue Scholarship nominee;

Arly Kisner – poultry;

David Lewis – poultry; photography –  outstanding;

John Lewis – global gourmet state fair selection; Financial Success state fair selection; creative baking 2nd place snowball cookies;

Haylee Ottman – Safe Use of Guns –  honorable mention; Becoming Money Wise – state fair alternate;

Cameryn Schooley – photography – outstanding;

Chancelyr Schooley – photography  – outstanding;

Noah Winterton – woodworking.

Cloverbuds are Max Harshman, Kinsi Hovance, Isabella Jarrett, Sarah Jarrett, Madison Kelly, Cole Kisner, Lizzie Masino, Jadyn Schooley, and Lauren Wilson.

Advisors are Gaynell Garrett, Jill and Jon Hay; Lisa Frasure, Aileen Clark, Jenny Dennis, Kathy Kisner, and Susan Brobst.

The Groveport Buttoneers 4-H Club meets year round and accepts new members in October. Traditional 4-H’ers (taking an individual project) must be age 8 and in the third grade as of Jan. 1, 2016.  Cloverbuds are members who are age 5 and in kindergarten through second grade and they work on group projects during club meetings.
