The annual Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) mobile collection, hosted by the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO), is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 12 at the Grove City Service Department, 3262 Ventura Blvd.
Franklin County residents may bring their old gasoline, lighter fluid, thinners, pool chemicals, oil-based paints, spray paints, fluorescent light bulbs, propane tanks under 20 pounds and corrosives such as drain cleaners. Residents can find a detailed list of accepted and non-accepted items on the SWACO website at www.swaco.org.
Latex paint is no longer accepted at HHW collections since it can be easily dried using cat litter, shredded paper or commercial hardening products and thrown out with the trash. This collection is not intended for businesses.
