Spiking in the mud for charity

Messenger photos by Pat Donahue

Everyone started the 24th annual Mud Volleyball Tournament with a clean shirt, but few leave with one. The event was held at Beulah Park on July 25. Above, team mates Mike Sweeder (front) and Jim Toto use the mud for some post game celebrating. This year’s tournament featured 48 courts, 206 teams, nearly 2,100 players, 35 referees and over 80 volunteers. Proceeds benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Central Ohio.

Here, Carrie Christie gets a not so helping hand from her Igel team mate Jim Brassel during the tourney.

Here, two participants take the victory plunge.
