Free dental clinic at Norton M.S.

On May 31 through June 2, South-Western City Schools (SWCS) is hosting the “Christina’s Smile” dental clinic at Norton Middle School, 215 Norton Road, from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 – 5 p.m.

Now in its ninth year at SWCS, “Christina’s Smile” is a free mobile dental clinic, which services children between the ages of six and 16 with no dental insurance.

The mobile clinic is a 48-foot trailer which houses three fully-equipped state-of-the-art dental treatment operatories including lab, X-ray and sterilization equipment.

Eighteen local dentists and dental assistants volunteer their time and talents to deliver high quality dental care to 120 students during the three-day clinic.  Approximately $60,000 worth of free dentistry is delivered during each three-day clinic.

This year, the clinic will have served 1,000 students at SWCS.

The free dental care services provided include fillings, root canal treatments, crowns, extractions, sealants and cleanings.  Each student treated in the clinic receives a “Christina’s Smile” t-shirt, toothbrush, toothpaste and other items.
