Reynoldsburg to expand community garden

After an inaugural year marked with state recognition, the Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Department has announced a second community Garden to be opened this spring at Civic Park.

The gardens give families, children and friends the opportunity to grow their own vegetables as well as help create a stronger feeling of community.

Parks and Recreation Director Jason Shamblin added that, based upon last year’s response, the community garden was a huge hit.

“We were hoping to fill 16 10-by-20-feet plots in 2010, but we had to expand to our maximum of 48 plots because of the community response,” he said. “We ended the year with a waiting list, and because of this demand, we are adding a second garden at Civic Park this year.”

Plots are 10-by-20-feet and can be rented for the season for $30. Those interested in signing up for a plot in the community garden should call the Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Department at (614) 322-6806.
