Pickerington Schools announces possible cuts if levy fails

Pickerington Schools has announced which cuts the district will make if voters do not pass an 8-mill levy on the upcoming November ballot.

The replacement levy would restore the original amount of a levy passed in 1977, plus raise it by 6.84 mills. It would generate a total of $8.98 million yearly.

A homeowner would pay an additional $209.53 annually per $100,000 of home valuation.

Even if the levy, known on the ballot as Issue 3, passes, the district has said it will still have to cut $2.5 million in fiscal year 2012.
