Organizers gear up for Tomato Festival
The Reynoldsburg Tomato Festival committee is gearing up for this year's event, and organizers say the community should expect plenty of attractions for families.
"The festival committee's plans for this year include a second tent for arts and crafts and a rest and relaxation area, Bingo games of chance and more kid and teen activities," said Greta Stake, director of Reynoldsburg Festivals Inc. A Tomato Festival Queens Pageant and Princess Pageant also will be held, with registration forms available online at www.reynoldsburgtomatofestival.org. This year's festival will be held Aug. 20 and 21 at Huber Park and organizers are looking for volunteers to help with the event. The times for the festival will be the same as last year - 4 to 10 p.m. Aug. 20, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 21. Parking is free. "The Tomato Festival is the perfect time for friends and neighbors to reconnect, local talent to display their gifts, give our families and our children a sense of community and have a place to go where everyone in the family can have fun and enjoy all the great food and activities," Stake said. The Festival Committee Directors are Mary Hudson, president (director of the Reynoldsburg Visitors Bureau); Greta Stake, vice president (resident); Sandy Long, treasurer (resident); Bob Martin (resident and business owner); Chuck Cochran (resident); Will Shuck (resident); Mike Motz (resident); and Jason Shamblin (director, Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation).
