Arshot to attend next SWAC meeting

The Southwest Area Commission (SWAC) is gearing up for a big night.

At their March 17 meeting, the commission announced representatives from Arshot Investment Corporation would be at their April 21 meeting to discuss the developer’s plans to convert the vacant 46-acre Cooper Stadium ballpark into a multi-use motorsports complex, as well as the noise impact te venue could potentially have on the surrounding communities.

Additionally, SWAC has invited members of the Franklinton Area Commission, the Franklinton Board of Trade, the Greater Hilltop Area Commission and ROAR (Redevelop Our Area Responsibly)  to come out and have their questions answered.

ROAR’s noise study consultants will attend the May 19 meeting.

Because this public meeting has the potential to bring in a large crowd, the commission had requested that attendees only ask questions related to the development and the noise impact.

“No questions about Jeff Gordon, racing, or NASCAR in general,” said commissioner Stefanie Coe. “This will probably be the only chance to hear from (Arshot Investment Corp.’s) acoustical people.”

The commission also asks the community members who wish to speak to write their questions down in advance to help avoid repeat questions and keep the dialogue flowing smoothly.

The public meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the New Horizons United Methodist Church, located at 1665 Harrisburg Pike.
