Helping out Cozy Cats
How about having a glass of wine to help some homeless cats?
The Cozy Cat Cottage in Powell is hosting their fifth annual wine tasting and silent auction on Sept. 29 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Cedar Brook Nursery, 6058 Glick Road. All proceeds from this event will go towards helping care for cats.
According to Cindi Clum, owner of Cozy Cat Cottage, the shelter has about 242 cats. They only take in injured or abused felines - not unwanted pets.
"We take in the ones that could really use our help," said Clum.
The fund raiser will feature a psychic, massage therapist and some really good food to go along with the wine. People can also inquire about adopting a new furry friend.
Advance tickets are $25 per person or $45 for a couple. At the door, it will be $30 per person and $55 for a couple.
For information on how to obtain advance tickets, contact the shelter at 336-8510.
About Cozy Cat Cottage
and how you can help
Clum's husband started Cozy Cat Cottage nine years ago with his 401K. It is a non-profit organization that provides refuge, aid and care for abandoned, injured, abused or lost cats/kittens. Cozy Cat Cottage does not euthanize an animal simply for being unwanted.
"We have trained professionals who come in and help injured animals as well as perform surgeries if needed," said Clum.
Clum explained that the organization needs volunteers, especially in the evenings.
"Right now we only have a few people to take care of over 200 cats and clean many cages."
If you want to help but do not have time to volunteer, you can become a sponsor, a foster parent or provide hospice care for sick or old cats. The shelter also takes monetary donations, trash bags, paper towels, heating pads, litter and cat food.
