Columbus City Council

Goals if elected: Eliminate wasteful spending of our tax dollars. Expend funds for surveillance cameras in neighborhoods with high crime rates. Introduce and fight for legislation requiring mandatory registration for owners of rental properties in order to properly address the issues of vacant housing. Restore appropriate funding for our Recreation and Parks Department.

Goals if elected: I am committed to keeping our city safe, strengthening neighborhoods, encouraging job growth and government reform. I will also work improve the quality of life of our residents by enhancing services to seniors, improving recreation and parks, and supporting arts and culture which generate $330 million in Columbus, annually.

I took over this position six months ago when the previous fiscal officer resigned.

Goals if elected: As a homeowner, husband and father of a baby daughter I can provide a fresh outlook on issues facing Franklin Township. I want Franklin Township to be seen as desirable for new families looking for affordable housing as well as those who have been here for many years.

Goals if elected: It’s not what I want to accomplish, it’s what do the residents of Franklin Township want for the township. If I am elected again as township trustee, I will represent the residents of the township, not my personal agenda. It’s not what’s good for Don Cook, it’s what’s good for (candidate exceeded word limit).

Goals if elected: Continue as trustee protecting and helping meet the needs of  the citizens of Franklin Township that have invested their labor and money into homes and businesses by advocating the highest level of police, fire and road maintenance as monetarily feasible. Also, work to help economic redevelopment of Franklin Township.

Education,military, and/or political experience: During time on fire department, I graduated from paramedic program at Grant Hospital in 1985 and participated in continuing education and leadership classes.   

Goals if elected: As a full-time trustee for the township I will concentrate on lowering water rates in the Westpoint and Lake Darby subdivisions, maintain a vigilant eye on township development and the Darby Accord Project, maintain a balanced budget, and maintain the high level of public services that our township residents deserve.

Education,military, and/or political experience: Graduated Westland 1974, I organized and filed the first two referendums in township history. I have four years of trustee experience. I also testified to the budget commission stopping a new 1.6 mill tax.

Goals if elected: First and foremost I want to continue the fiscally responsible conservative approach to running the township government. I am currently focused on finding a solution to the continued high water and sewer prices in Lake Darby and West Point. I will not stop until we find a solution.

Develop strong business incentives to revitalize Broad Street and core business districts. And I promise, I will never play politics with the health and safety of our township residents.

Goals if elected: As a board member, I would like to continue my quest on the importance of education. It has always been an important message to send to our children. Thus, founding the Never Quit Foundation which focuses on granting scholarships to students considered average yet have the desire to attend college.

Goals if elected: My highest priority is to bring a climate of education that focuses on the children. This includes resolving the district’s financial crisis by ensuring the cost of education is fairly distributed and by forming non-traditional partnerships. We must rebuild trust between the board, the school system and the community.

Education, military, and/or political experience: I worked my way up in corporate America for 17 years and most recently as the vice president of finance for Sterling Commerce, a technology company whose revenues were in excess of $500 million annually. After I left Sterling, I started my own business in property development and management; a retail store in Grove City and I currently work as chief financial officer for a start-up international technology company.

Goals if elected: Develop better community relationships and address concerns of both yes and no voters. Provide leadership that will inspire our community to partner with our district that is currently divided and filled with residents who are distrustful, uninspired and lacking confidence in the key leaders of the district.

Goals if elected: Continued academic achievement must be our main mission. I believe our staff has done a great job improving student achievement over the past several years. We are going to ask ourselves the tough questions and respond based on the needs of our school community.

From there my main focus will be establishing rigorous fiscal discipline and helping to create a culture of excellence.
