Nellie's Catwalk is back

My name is Jenelle Krumlauf and I am the president and founder of Nellie's Catwalk for Kids. Nellie's Catwalk is a third-year non-profit organization that raises funds for kids with cancer in the Columbus community.

You see, I'm not very good at playing sports or any other particular talent, but I do love fashion and more importantly I love children. When I was 16 years old, I felt called to help children with cancer and I wanted to create a fun way to involve the Columbus community. So I thought what better than a huge fashion show to raise a ton of money. After the first show I was hooked!

I am proud to say that over the past two years Nellie's Catwalk for Kids has grown more than I could have ever dreamed and has raised more than $14,000 for Nationwide Children's Hospital Oncology Center!

We host a huge annual fashion show every year at the Hilton Hotel at Easton Town Center. I am personally inviting you to this wonderful cause and asking you to spend July 31 with Nellie's Catwalk for Kids. Cocktails and the silent auction will begin at 6:00 p.m. right outside the Easton Ballroom at the Hilton Hotel at Easton and the fashion show will begin promptly at 7 p.m.

All of the models featured in the show have either had cancer or know a family member or friend that went through cancer. Ticket prices are $50 for reserved VIP, $15 if purchased before the event (e-mail Catwalk4Kids@aol.com), and $20 at the door.

Support Pickerington Library

The Eastside Messenger on July 13 carried a banner headline on the Pickerington Public Library's dire need for a 10-year operating levy of 0.75 in November 2009.

The is the first request for local funding in 100 years, which is now necessary due to the economic situation. Some smaller libraries in Ohio have been forced to close. After a 30-percent loss in funds, we could reinstate some of the library hours and much needed staff in order to keep our treasured library in operation.

Pickerington Library is a valuable source of education for our children as well as a source of continuing eduction and pleasure for both adults and children. Our country is most fortunate to provide these advantages for our future leadership.

As a former reference librarian from Springfield, Ohio, I highly recommend a "yes" vote next November on this vital issue. Donations would be very helpful to this fundraising committee to promote the passage of this levy.
