Support Lincoln Village Community Center
A Bob Evans Community Fun Night will be held in support of the Lincoln Village Community Center on July 21, from 5- 10 p.m. Fifteen percent of all dine-in or carryout orders at Bob Evans, 4331 W. Goodguys comes to Columbus
Classic American cars will be in the spotlight July 10-12 as the Goodguys 12th PPG Nationals brings over 6,000 1972 & earlier classics, customs and hot rods to the Columbus area. The event will be spread throughout the grounds of the Ohio Expo Center. The event is a car lover’s dream land with vintage vehicles through 1972 from 43 states and Canadian provinces on display, a midway with vendor and commercial exhibits, swap meet, cars for sale corral, “how to” hot rod seminars, model car show, live music, food and fun in the sun.
Event hours are Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. General admission is $17. Kids (7-12) $6. Kids 6 and under are free. There is a $6 parking fee. For additional information, contact the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association at (925) 838-9876 or visit www.good-guys.com.
Free clothing and lunch
New Hope Church, 3060 W. Broad St., will provide free women’s, men’s and children’s clothing July 25, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Free lunch will be provided. All are welcome.
Free financial management and refinance workshop
Homes on the Hill CDC will hold a free workshop focusing on financial management for homeowners on July 14 at the Westland Area Library, 4740 W. Broad St. The class will include advice on how to use home equity responsibly and when it is advantageous to refinance, as well as tips on saving money and reverse mortgages.

Run the Race Summerfest
A community Summerfest will take place Aug. 1, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Holton Park, 303 North Eureka Ave. Entertainment, safety demos from the Columbus Division of Police and Fire, yard, craft, vendor and food sales. St. James Brats Fest

Westside Sportsman’s League hosts fishing tourney
The Westside Sportsman’s League will hold it’s 29th annual fishing tournament and family fun day July 25 at Brooks Park Buckeye Lake. Adoption event
Hundreds of local dog and cat lovers are going to be on the lookout for their new best friends at “Adoption on the Lawn,” a community pet adoption event held at Mars Petcare US in Columbus, 5115 Fisher Road, on July 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
More than 50 dogs and cats from 14 area shelters and breed rescues will be gathered in one place to help increase awareness of the growing need for adoption of great companion animals often abandoned through no fault of their own. The event features discounted adoption fees, free admission and parking, free food and drink, a live DJ, product giveaways and a live raffle. Organizations in attendance will include Animal Rescuer’s Friend, Central Ohio Greyhound Rescue, Citizens for Humane Action, Columbus Cocker Rescue, Forgotten 4-Paws, Franklin County Dog Shelter, Humane Society of Delaware County, Humane Society of Madison County, Humane Society Serving Clark County, Ohio Pug Rescue, Ohio Rottweiler Rescue, Stop the Suffering, Colony Cats and Cozy Cat Cottage.

Green Lawn book sale
A silent auction book sale will be offered in July with proceeds going to the Green Lawn Volunteers.
More than a dozen books and a pair of tickets to the fall 2009 Evening with the Authors series at the Thurber House are being offered for bidding throughout the month of July. Bids will be updated every morning and posted on the Green Lawn Web site at www.greenlawncolumbus.org .
Bidding will close July 31 and winners revealed Aug. 1.
Successful bidders can pay for their books and pick them up Aug. 1 at Green Lawn, 1000 Greenlawn Avenue. Besides placing bids online, people can bid by phone or in person at the Green Lawn office.

Friends Worship Center hosts senior group
Senior citizens are invited to a seniors group at Friends Worship Center, 3030 Clime Road, on the second Tuesday of each month from 12-2:30 p.m. The event will feature a light lunch, games and fellowship. The Church of the Lamb of God, 2216 Sullivant Ave., offers free meals on the fourth Saturday of each month.
American Legion Post 799
American Legion Post 799 holds their monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Prairie Township Fire Station, 123 Inah Ave. The Post is actively focusing on fund raising activities, family activities for the younger generation, setting up a Sons of the Legion auxiliary and increasing the ladies auxiliary.

Golden Age Center
The Salvation Army Golden Age Center, 2300 W. Mound St., invites anyone aged 60 or over to attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for lunch, crafts, movies, BINGO, games, health and fitness, and fun. VFW Post 6065
VFW Post 6065 will hold their meetings on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. Meetings last about one hour and are held at the Prairie Township Senior Center, 4616 West Broad St. Those interested in getting involved or volunteering time should attend a meeting. The Ladies Auxiliary meets at 6:30 p.m. The motivations of the VFW are patriotic, historical, and educational. They strive to perpetuate the memory and history of their dead, and to assist their widows and orphans. Call Will Davis at 309-0171 for further information.
Exercise for seniors
Seniors are invited to exercise on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 55 Pasadena Ave. Men and women aged 50 to 90 and up have exercised at the facility since 2001. The instructor leads each session with warm-ups, play balls, resistance bands, hand weights, some low-impact aerobics and balance activities. Each participant can adapt the routine to his/her comfort level. The cost is $35 for each eight-week session. Call the instructor, Lori Vazquez, at 989-4595 with questiions.
Paper recycling at Parkview
Parkview United Methodist Church, 344 S. Algonquin Ave., is providing the community with recycling bins for paper products. Bring newspapers, magazines, junk mail, etc., to the green and yellow bins in the church parking lot. No cardboard or phone books will be accepted. Questions, call 875-7231.
