The Reynoldsburg Board of Education will consider a new school schedule at its June 16 meeting, scheduled at 7 p.m. at city hall.

The schedule was designed for maximum efficiency and to accommodate reductions in transportation services next year, according to a news release.

There will be no busing service for Reynoldsburg High School students next year. To accommodate the anticipated morning traffic, the high school will be placed on a staggered start, if approved.

Grades 11 and 12 will report an hour earlier than 9th- and 10th-grade students. The upperclassmen will qualify for early release, maximizing opportunity for those students to participate in Post-Secondary Education Options, internships or other learning outside the walls of the classroom, according to the release.

Junior high and middle school students who live more than two miles from school would be bused together. In the morning, buses will drop students off at the junior high schools and then travel to the middle schools.

In the afternoon, buses will pick up students at the middle schools and then the junior high schools.

Elementary school students who live more than two miles from school also will qualify for busing.

Also taken into consideration were daylight hours for students who will walk or bike to school.

The latest sunrise - in December - is at 7:40 a.m. The junior high start time will provide adequate time for walkers to depart after sunrise and get to school, according to the release.
