Franklin Township to purchase backhoe
(by Rachel Scofield, Staff Writer - May 20, 2009)
The Franklin Township trustees are now accepting sealed bids on a 1984 backhoe.
The backhoe will not be on display until the township receives its new backhoe, which the trustees purchased with funds granted from FEMA after the September 2008 windstorm. Any questions pertaining to the backhoe should be directed to Jim Stevens at 348-3208.
The bids will be accepted in the township office at 2193 Frank Road between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The deadline to submit a sealed offer is June 24, said trustee Don Cook.
At their June 25 meeting, the trustees will open the bids.
The township recently offloaded four police vehicles through sealed bids that raised about $4,000.
In other business, the Franklin Township Fire Department will take part in training exercises on May 20 and 21 at 3855 Fisher Road. The firemen will practice spreading foam to smother flames in case of a gasoline tank explosion.
