Pickerington Schools maintenance levy approved
Pickerington voters approved a 0.5-mil maintenance levy that will help the district secure an additional $50 million in state funds. The current Classroom Facilities Maintenance levy was approved overwhelmingly, with approximately 75 percent of voters casting a “yes” vote. For months, the school district emphasized the levy would not entail any new taxes for residents, and would instead extend the current 0.5-mil maintenance levy 12 years, from 2020 to 2032. Because the levy was approved, $50 million in state funds now will come from the Classroom Facilities Assistance Program, a building program supporting 154 different school district projects with more than $4.9 billion committed. Plans including upgrading Pickerington High School Central, Ridgeview Junior High, and Fairfield, Pickerington and Violet elementary schools.
