Photos: Westside cleans up for Earth Day

Discarded cans, bottles and fast food wrappers litter the woods of Glenwood Park before the Friends of the Hilltop arrived to clear the mess. On April 18, FOTP collected trash and recyclables from the two parks which create the gateway to their neighborhood - Glenwood and Rhodes. Here Katrina Weisenbach joins in clearing trash from Glenwood.

Stefanie Coe of the Southwest Area Commission (SWAC) clears debris from Frank Road as part of the SWAC Earth Day clean-up on April 18. The commissioners gathered trash along Frank Road from the interstate west to Harrisburg Pike. SWAC plans additional clean-ups for the third saturdays of May, June and July. Anyone interested in helping should meet at New Horizons Church, 1665 Harrisburg Pike, at 9 a.m.
