Gordon Gee home selected for 2009 Bexley House and Garden Tour
The Bexley home of Gordon Gee, President of The Ohio State University, is the first home selected to be on the 2009 Bexley House and Garden Tour, according to Kim Rogers, chair of the House and Garden Committee for Bexley Women's Club.
With the theme of "Renovate, Restore, Renew!", the Bexley House and Garden Tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 14.
"We are so grateful for the support of President Gee," Rogers said. "The House and Garden Tour is the main fund-raiser for the Bexley Women's Club scholarship fund so it is very appropriate for this home to be on our tour. The OSU president's home also carries through our renovation theme since the house has recently undergone considerable remodeling."
On June 13, an invitation-only Gala featuring expanded tours of the House and Garden homes with cocktails special foods will be held. For more information about the tour and gala and ticket information, or to volunteer for the tour, contact Bexley Women's Club through its Web site www.bexleywomen.org.
The Bexley Women's Club is accepting scholarship applications for the 2009-10 academic year and has increased individual awards from $500 to $1,000. Male and female high school seniors who reside in Bexley and college students nationwide are eligible to apply for the cash scholarships. Application forms may be downloaded from the Bexley Women's Club Web site www.bexleywomen.org. The deadline for applications is March 31.
The Bexley Women's Club scholarship program began in 1937 when scholarships were first awarded to two female students attending Capital University and The Ohio State University. Today's scholarship program is open to men and women alike who fall in two different categories: high school seniors who are residents of Bexley and attend area high schools, and post-secondary students nationwide.
Since its inception, the Bexley Women's Club scholarship program has awarded more than $350,000 to more than 725 needy and deserving students.
The Bexley Women's Club is an engaged women's network actively participating in and supporting our community through scholastic and social services. As a not-for-profit organization, the role of the Bexley Women's Club is entirely philanthropic in support of local activities and charities.
