Rotary club gearing up for biggest fundraiser
Nestled in the Hocking Hills, the Mesa Vista Lodge accommodates more than 18 people and the hot tub seats 10.
This enticing five-night stay at the lodge is one of the items up for bid at the 15th Annual Reynoldsburg/Pickerington Rotary Club Auction.
The auction will take place from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Oct. 24 at Jefferson Country Club.
Tickets are $40 per person, which includes dinner buffet, two drink tickets and entry into a door prize drawing.
A silent auction will run during dinner from 7 to 9 p.m., followed by a dessert auction and then a live auction.
Dancing will begin at 10 p.m.
The main course options will include chicken Parmesan, lasagna and penne.
Attendees may bid on nearly 50 different baskets including a variety of items such as spa treatments, children's activities, wine, "and many more," Rotarian Jenni Smith said.
"Our Annual Auction is our biggest yearly fundraiser," Rotary member Shannon Mills said.
Proceeds benefit many programs including; the Mount Carmel Fitness Challenge, scholarships to Reynoldsburg and
Pickerington high school seniors; and dictionaries for all third graders within the Pickerington and Reynoldsburg school systems.
Every year the club also donates more than $125 to needy teenagers in the Reynoldsburg and Fairfield County area for holiday presents.
The members purchase the gifts and wrap them. The parents collect the items from the Rotary so their children never know the gifts came from the club.
The Rotary expects to buy presents for 100 teenagers, Smith said.
During the summer, the club sponsored "Big Give 2008" in which the members reached-out to the community in the hopes of finding worthy recipients of charity.
Those who benefited from the Big Give included the Wesley Ridge Retirement Community, the Reynoldsburg Food Pantry, the orchestra program at Reynoldsburg Schools, the Pickerington Food Pantry and many others. All funds raised by the Rotary must be donated to charity per its charter.
Tickets for the auction may be purchased from any Rotary member. To learn more about the club or to contact a member for tickets, visit www.rprotaryclub.com.
