Palsgrove earns IFPA award

Managing Editor and Southeast Editor Rick Palsgrove earned a 2008 Independent Free Papers of America (IFPA) third place original writing award for three of his personal columns.

The columns - "When the Jets flew away, something was lost," "Absorbing the layers and qualities of silence," and "Life in a small town" - appeared in the Columbus Messenger newspapers in the past year.

Palsgrove joined the Columbus Messenger as a reporter in 1997, was promoted to Southeast editor in 1999, and was named managing editor this summer.
