Police raid Pickerington home

Police say a Pickerington man is a "person of interest" in an ongoing drug investigation.

On July 28, a SWAT team closed the 300 and 400 blocks of Columbus Street in an effort to secure the suspect's house before the Fairfield/Hocking Major Crimes Division could begin its search, police officials say. No one was home at the time.

Major crimes commander Eric Brown could not comment on why his division suspected drug activity in the house, but said the investigators found "a small amount of marijuana and prescription medications."

Brown said the prosecutor would not file charges against the suspect until the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation finishes reviewing the evidence, which could take three to six weeks.

"I don't think there is any question that some sort of charge will be filed," Brown said.

He also could not comment on whether all the prescriptions confiscated belonged to the suspect or what the charges might be.

As to whether drugs are a prevalent in the area, Brown said, "Really no place is immune from it, even in communities such as Pickerington."
