Happy 100th birthday, Bexley!
Former Bexley mayor David Madison, left, is honored by City Councilman Rick Weber May 24 by having the city's pool dedicated in his name, as part of the kick-off for the community's centennial celebration. Getting the new pool opened in 2007 was one of the last major accomplishments of Madison, who served for 32 years. Below, Madison and his successor, Mayor John Brennan, cut the birthday cake provided by Mozart's bakery. The centennial celebration will continue throughout the summer with the Bexley Women's Club House and Garden Tour, June 22, and the Fourth of July and Labor Day activities. Also as part of the centennial, bracelets are being sold at City Hall and other locations for $5, that provide discounts for goods and services from businesses and restaurants. Information about the discounts is available at www.bexleybracelet.com. |
