A little piece of home
Since the Pocket Flag Projects began in 2001 by a boy scout troop in Colorado, over 700,000 flags have been distributed by thousands of people across the country who want the troops overseas to know we are remembering them here at home. The flags are folded into a 2-by-2-by-3-inch triangle, which is then placed in a bag with a note that reads, “A flag for your pocket so you can always carry a piece of home.We are proud of you and thank you for defending our country.” The mission of the project is to educate people about the flag and patriotism as well as to get the flags into the hands of the troops. The Pocket Flag Project is open to any individual or organization that would like to participate. All project details can be found at www.pocketflagproject.com.
