Winter wonderland at Darby
Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is located at 1775 Darby Creek Dr. in Galloway, four miles off Route 40 just east of West Jefferson. Here is a list of event for December. For more information about the park or its programs, call 895-6365.
•Owls of Darby Creek, Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. - Join in and try to converse with these nocturnal nobles. Meet at Indian Ridge Bulletin Board.
•On the Rocks, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. - Glacial geology rules the day as you take a look at the effects of ice upon the landscape. Meet at the Naturalist Office.
•Preschoolers: Owls, Dec. 11 at 9:30 or 11 a.m. - Learn about owls through a story, game and craft. Meet a Cedar Ridge Lodge.
•Photo Nut Photography Club, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. - Bring your favorite photo to share for a picture potpourri party. All levels of shutterbugs welcome. Meet at Cedar Ridge Lodge.
•Howl at the Moon, Dec. 22 at 5 p.m. - Bring your canine companion on a two-mile hike along the pet trail. Meet at Pet Trail Parking Lot, 2914 Georgesville-Wrightsville Road.
•Full Moon of Long Winter Nights, Dec. 23 at 5 p.m. - Join in for a four-mile hike through the winter woods. Meet at the Naturalist Office.
•Preschoolers: Owls, Dec. 28 at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. - Learn about owls through a story, game and craft. Meet at Cedar Ridge Lodge.
