Groveport Madison and OSFC funding
The Groveport Madison school district is 64th on the state priority list for Ohio Schools Facility Commission (OSFC) funding if the district were to decide to pursue money to construct new school buildings.
"We filed a waiver to annually declare our position and to keep our place on the list without making a financial commitment," said Groveport Madison Superintendent Bruce Hoover at the Nov. 8 Groveport Madison Board of Education meeting.
Hoover said, if the district decides to pursue OSFC money for new buildings within the next two years, it would receive 49 percent in state funding and 51 percent in local funding for a potential project, a 2 percent improvement from previous years.
He said the board would have to consider what it wants to do regarding facilities in the future. "There's no guarantee with the state of Ohio about how much longer the OSFC will remain in place," said Hoover.
The district last asked for a bond issue for constructing new school buildings in November 2010, which voters defeated by 55 to 45 percent.
