New executive director at VCB
Amanda Davis is the new executive director for the Grove City Area Visitors and Convention Bureau, announced Rick Louder, president of the non-profit organization that promotes Grove City to the Midwest tourism market. Davis is the manager of the Blue Moon Event Center in Grove City where she has worked the past eight years. She begins working with the bureau Nov. 13 and assumes full responsibilities as the executive director on Jan. 1, 2013. James Hale, current executive director, will step down from the post he has held for seven years on Dec. 31 and will retire from the bureau Jan. 31, 2013. A native of Grove City, Davis is a graduate of Grove City High School. She is excited about the challenge and looks forward to working within the local hotel community and with residents of the city. As a certified meeting professional, Davis is a member of a small group of individuals in Franklin County with advanced training in planning meetings, events, exhibitions and working with the hospitality and tourism industry. Davis earned her designation in 2009 after several months of study and testing. Davis attended Columbus State Community College and is a member of the Meeting Professionals International and a member of the International Special Events Society.
