CW's Adopt A Family program gears up for the holidays

The holidays are approaching and the annual Adopt A Family program will be coordinated by Canal Winchester Human Services (CWHS).

Last year the program assisted 92 families, which included about 320 individuals.

"There is no doubt that the demand for assistance will be significantly higher this year as the demand for all the programs we administer have seen increases in 2012," said Penny Miller, CWHS administrator.

Participation can include adopting a child or family, sponsoring or contributing to a gift card tree, a food drive or a toy drive.  CWHS will accept good, clean, used coats for distribution.  Financial contributions are appreciated and will be used to support children and families that WHS is unable to "adopt."  Checks are tax-deductible and should be made payable to Canal Winchester Human Services.

"We hope that everyone in a position to be a giver will partner with Human Services to make the holidays a little better for our neighbors in need," said Miller.

The CWHS Adopt A Family program provides assistance to anyone living in the Canal Winchester School District, Lithopolis and rural areas of Fairfield County that are not served by other Fairfield County agencies. Applications may be picked up at the Community Center, 22 S.Trine St., Canal Winchester; the Community Food Pantry, 360 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester; or by downloading from www.cwhumanservices.org.  For information email Penny Miller at penny.cwhs@gmail.com or call  (614) 834-3888.
