Coloring contest for kids; decorating contest for adults
(Posted Nov. 1, 2012) The 11th annual Plain City Christmas Under the Clock will take place Dec. 1 at Main (Route 161) and Chillicothe streets in Plain City. The event is presented by Uptown Plain City Organization (UPCO) and the village of Plain City. Leading up to the event, organizers are calling for entries in two contests that celebrate creativity: a coloring contest for children and a decorating contest for adults. Coloring Contest “I really enjoy seeing the children’s artwork and their creativity,” says Adkins, “but choosing a winner is harder than you might think. They all have one element or another that stands out.” This year, in addition to the age category winners, two winners will be drawn randomly allowing for a total of five tree lighting ambassadors. Each winner will receive a prize ribbon and receive their entry back in a frame. Official entry forms (to be colored and completed with contact information) can be downloaded by going to the “Events” tab at www.uptownplaincityorg.webs.com. The contest organizer must receive entries by Nov. 12. The tree lighting ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. Dec. 1. Decorating Contest Presented by QT1270 and supported by Main Street Treasures, the contest is open to residents and businesses within the village corporation limits. A panel of judges that includes QT1270 on-air personality Pete Emmons will choose winners in three categories: best overall, most creative and best use of illumination. “We’re excited about the first Christmas Under the Clock Decorating Contest and honored that we were able to be a part of it,” said Emmons. “It’s going to be a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to it.” Entry forms can be found at www.uptownplaincityorg.webs.com under “Events” and at Main Street Treasures and Plain City Library. Completed entries can be: mailed to Christmas Decoration, UPCO, P.O. Box 297, Plain City, OH 43064; sent electronically to upco.misc@live.com; or dropped at the above listed businesses. The deadline for entries is Nov. 23. Lights are to be blazing Nov. 27-28 for judging. Winners will be notified by QT1270 and must be available to participate in the awards ceremony at 5 p.m. Dec. 1.
