Madison-Plains will hold "State of the Schools" meeting
Madison-Plains Local Schools invites the public to a State of the Schools meeting set for 7 p.m. Oct. 17 in the high school auditorium. Superintendent Boone Hall said the meeting will cover several topics, including the district’s efforts to improve communication with residents via the web, creation of an impact group comprised of community members, and other means. The meeting also will cover the advantages and disadvantages of the district’s centralized site, curriculum, Madison-Plains’ performance on the state report card, and the upcoming replacement levy and what is planned for the funds. “We’ll also talk about the iPads and give some cost comparables,” Hall said, referring to the iPads the district is supplying to students. “We’ve had people ask how we can spend $600 on an iPad for a student. We’ll show that cost compared to, for example, the cost of books for a student.” Treasurer Tim Dettwiller will review the district’s finances and 10-year financial plan, after which school leaders will open the meeting to questions from the audience. The State of the Schools meeting is a first for Madison-Plains. Hall said it is part of the district’s new communication plan. The meeting should last about one hour, he said.
