The line of 13,000 invited guests wrap around the building as Hollywood Casino opens for demonstration on Oct. 3. This event allows the Ohio Casino Control Commission to observe and inspect the facility before its grand opening Oct. 8.

Well-dressed patrons patiently wait for their turn to enter the casino. All proceeds from the demonstration day go toward five local charities, including the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, Salvation Army of Central Ohio, Hilltop YMCA, Greater Hilltop Area Shalom Zone and the West Broad Street Center of The Buckeye Ranch.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, actor and former California governor, was a special guest at Hollywood Casino. Also in attendance was heavyweight boxing champion Buster Douglas.

Ameet Patel, general manager of Hollywood Casino, said the casino has received dignitaries from all over Ohio, for the special demonstration event. He added, he believes Hollywood Casino will become an icon of Columbus and the Westside.

Mayor Michael Coleman speaks with Schwarzenegger before making his opening remarks. Coleman said he is excited this day has arrived and that Hollywood Casino will benefit Columbus through its 2,000 permanent jobs. He said the casino not only improves the tax revenue for the city and state, but helps residents provide for their families and keep a roof over their heads.
