Southwest area resident John Haywood received first place at a national showcase, after being named “2012 Master Craftsman” at the Columbus Woodworking Show earlier this year at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. Haywood designed and created a rustic log dresser, which incorporated crotch wood and burl black walnut with rustic knotty pine and beech logs. He earned a degree in fine woodworking technology from the University of Rio Grande in 2002.
