Hollywood Casino is ready to hire 600 dealers
Nearly a year after Penn National broke ground on the Hollywood Casino, the hiring process has begun to find 600 dealers. Ameet Patel, vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino, has said special attention will be paid toward applicants from the Westside. On April 13, casino officials announced they would begin accepting applications for full and part time table dealers. Hollywood Casino will feature more than 100 table games, including 30 poker tables. At Penn National sister properties, dealers make an average income between $35,000 and $40,000. According to Scott Saunders, assistant general manager at Hollywood Casino, the casino floor is a fast paced and exciting area. They are looking for applicants who enjoy people, social interaction and customer service. Applicants must be 21-years-old, pass a basic math test, have a high school diploma or equivalent, submit to a nicotine and drug test and have color vision. Rikki Tanenbaum, vice president of marketing, said the best thing to do is apply online as early as possible. Starting at the end of April applicants will be invited to the converted Haydocy Automotive Showroom for panel style interviews. There is a possibility of walking away with a job offer contingent on the completion of dealer school and licensing from the Ohio Casino Control Commission. In January, Penn National partnered with three central Ohio colleges to train 1,200 of the 2,000 prospective employees, including Columbus State Community College (CSCC), the Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and Hondros College. Dealers will enroll in courses with Hondros College around June, and classes will be held four hours per day on weekdays for five to eight weeks. Dealer school costs $200 per class, which will be reimbursed to individuals upon completion and a period of time under employment. Casino gaming is a new program offered by Hondros College and its Columbus based program is exclusively to train Hollywood Casino team members.
