First Saturday at Green Lawn explores famed architect


The life and work of famed architect Frank L. Packard will be explored at the First Saturday at Green Lawn program on Dec. 3 at 11 a.m in the Huntington Chapel.

Barbara Powers of the Ohio Historical Society will share information about Packard, who designed 3,400 projects. .

The chapel is one of three structures in Green Lawn designed by Packard. The two others are the C.L. Hayden family mausoleum, the largest single family mausoleum at Green Lawn, and his own mausoleum.

First Saturday is a monthly program that looks into the lives of those buried at Green Lawn.

The Packard family is among the 150,000 people who have been buried at Green Lawn Cemetery since its founding in 1848. The cemetery, which started with 83 acres, has grown to 360 with 80 of those acres yet to be developed.
