Georgesville Road reconstruction and widening

Franklin County Engineer Dean Ringle announced Aug. 25 the widening and reconstruction of Georgesville Road, from north of Sullivant Avenue to West Broad Street, will be under way around Sept. 6.

The project is estimated to be completed by November 2012.

“Our project involves the addition of two vehicular lanes and median strips to improve traffic capacity and safety on the busy thoroughfare,” Ringle said. “We will also build new storm sewers, sidewalks and a leisure path; and install new street lighting, and traffic control signage and signals.”

Two-way travel will be maintained through the construction zone. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays.

The Franklin County Engineer’s Office will supervise the building of this $8 million project by Shelly & Sands.

Funding is provided by Franklin County, city of Columbus, Ohio Public Works Commission and Penn National.
