Enjoy an afternoon visiting some of the finest gardens in Grove City at the Jo Bostic Memorial Garden Tour from 3 to 7 p.m. on July 7.
This self-guided tour, hosted by Keep Grove City Beautiful (KGCB) and the city of Grove City, starts at the Gardens at Gantz Farm, 2255 Home Road. Participants receive a program and map to guide them to the gardens at the six private homes on the tour.
The 2012 gardens offer a variety of colors, designs, textures and history. Participants can take a stroll through hundreds of varieties of hostas at many of the stops along the tour. They can find raised vegetable gardens and courtyards adorned with perennials with vegetables mixed into the landscape. Guests can also enjoy Grove City history including family farming artifacts in the gardens at one home. Experience how the mixture of gardens has grown during the last 160 years with annual and perennial gardens, herb gardens, fountains, ponds and maybe even a garden secret or two.
The tour is free, although KGCB volunteers are requesting monetary or non-perishable food donations for the Grove City Emergency Services/Food Pantry.
Tour addresses will be posted on the Grove City website beginning July 5. For more information, call the Grove City Parks and Recreation Department at 277-3050 or visit www.GroveCityOhio.gov.
